Frequently Asked Questions
It’s possible that your child may benefit from speech therapy. If you think your child may not have age-appropriate speech or language skills, you can contact us with questions or to set up an in-home or virtual evaluation.
Does my child need speech therapy?
What if I just wait a few years to see if it gets better?
While some children will eventually acquire age-appropriate speech sounds, others will not. This may lead to difficulty learning to read, spell, and do school work. A speech-language pathologist will be able to tell you what skills and sounds should be prioritized and which sounds may naturally be acquired later.
Can adults benefit from speech therapy?
Yes. Some adults may experience speech or language difficulties following brain injuries including concussions or strokes. Other adults may benefit from social language, voice, or fluency treatments. If you have questions regarding potential treatments for adults, please contact us.
What is teletherapy?
Teletherapy is a service-delivery model that strives to deliver quality virtual speech therapy through teleconferencing software (like Zoom). While some people may engage more with in-person therapy, other people may prefer teletherapy due to its convenience and affordability.
What do I need to participate in teletherapy?
A laptop, webcam, microphone, and high-speed internet are required to participate in teletherapy. If you do not have home access to these technologies, there may be community resources that can help.
What happens during a speech therapy evaluation?
After you contact us, we will schedule a time for an in-person or virtual evaluation.
During the evaluation, the speech-language pathologist typically conducts an interview, administers a standardized assessment, and takes a language sample. After the evaluation is complete, the speech-language pathologist will discuss your results and, if appropriate, discuss a plan of treatment.
How much does all of this cost with no insurance?
We can offer some of the most competitive pricing in Colorado. Our private pay clients pay as low as $169 for an evaluation and as low as $50 for a therapy session. Rates vary based on type of evaluation and how far the speech therapist travels for each session.
